Imphal, August 11, 2025: The Thadou Inpi Manipur (TIM) has strongly rejected allegations made by the Kuki Inpi Manipur (KIM) in its August 8 press statement, calling them “false, misleading, and provocative.” The rebuttal comes after KIM criticised TIM’s August 6 participation in the Road to Peace in Manipur initiative held in Imphal.
In a detailed statement, TIM accused KIM of attempting to distort history, undermine the distinct Thadou indigenous identity, and provoke communal tensions. It reiterated that the Thadou community operates under the Thadou Inpi Constitution (TIC), adopted in 2016, and does not subscribe to Kuki ideology. TIM also highlighted past declarations, including the Thadou Conclave Delhi Declaration, that formally disowned KIM and its affiliates.
TIM’s statement alleged that Kuki militant groups and sympathisers had created illegitimate Thadou organisations, spread false propaganda, and pursued a “Separate Administration” agenda. It also condemned what it described as “Kuki radicalism,” including the use of religious platforms to promote hate speech, and called for government action against such activities.
While reaffirming its commitment to peace, TIM urged the Government of India and all stakeholders to ensure an inclusive, indigenous-led peace process that respects Thadou identity. It warned that continued appeasement of “Kuki supremacist” agendas could force the Thadou community to seek arms for self-defence, noting that it has no armed militant groups of its own.
The organisation called the August 6 Covenant of Understanding between TIM and Manipur Civil Society Organisations a “historic breakthrough in indigenous unity” and urged all parties to reject divisive rhetoric.
