Imphal, April 26 2016: The 21st executive council of the Hmar Stu- dents' Association held at Hotel Rajmahal, Guwahati on April 23 acknowledged and appreciated the efforts given by some individu- als and groups- the YMA in particular, towards solving the political imbroglio of the Hmars in Mizoram.

In a statement, the HSA said that it hopes and prays that such humane approach bears fruit and the unresolved political issues of the Hmar people in Mizoram is solved and perma- nent peace and development is brought in the present Sinlung Hills Development Council (SHDC) areas of Mizoram.

HSA also earnestly appealed to all the stakeholders and players, the State Government of Mizoram in particular to sympathetically listen to the voice of its people and resolve the issue at the earliest.

Any conflict and disagreement can how- ever be resolved with talks and discussion over the table.

The HSA feels that the present critical juncture is the best time to once again initiate the abandoned peace talks between the HPC (D) and the State Government of Mizoram.

HSA is also happy that the stalemate over the conduct of the Village Coun- cil election in the SHDC area is now over and that the same is to be held in May 19, 2016. In the meantime, the HSA also wished that the political issues of the Hmars of Assam voiced mainly under the banner of the Assam Region of the Hmar People's Convention - Democratic (HPC-D) as well as the one raised under KNO/ UPF in Manipur is sped up in a positive manner so that the Hmar people and its kindred tribes settled across these States taste the fruit of peace, democracy and development in their own way.
