IMPHAL, Oct 3: The armed group HPC(D) has today terminated its town commander identified as Laltlansang alias Sanga for his reported involvement in activities which are seen as detrimental to the current tribal movement, a statement issued by the group said.
Five other individuals who are charged with the same treason by the womenfolk have also publicly apologised today.
It is said that Lalneisang, Glory Wilson, Lalrammawia, Ramthanglien and Laltlansang have visited Tipaimukh area sometime last week and circulated pamphlets that seek to justify the area MLA Dr Chaltonlien Amo and his arguments that the three bills are not detrimental for the tribal people.
On learning about their activities womenfolk from Rengkai area yesterday decided to storm their residences and demanded their custody but were prevented by Church and tribe leaders.
The five were today summoned by the public after which they publicly tendered their apologies in written and declared that they would willingly accept any action taken up on them by the leaders and swore that they would totally refrain from anti-people activities.
The HPC(D)’s decision to terminate its town commander during an emergency executive meeting held here today is said to be related with the raging issue. Besides the termination, the outfit has in a statement issued today instructed its former comrade to leave the town area with immediate effect.
