NOTE OF APPRECIATION

The Joint Action Committee, Churachandpur, in solidarity with all the other hill tribes of Manipur, extends our sincere thanks and gratitude to the Ministry of Home Affairs, Govt. of India for sending Shri Ashok Prasad, IPS (Rtd), Secretary, Internal Security of the Ministry on 22nd September, 2015 to personally assess the present imbroglio. He addressed a mammoth gathering of the aggrieved tribal community, interacted with the public leaders and paid homage to our beloved nine Tribal Martyrs. His visit exposed the continued indifferent attitude of the State Government over the people’s movement for justice.

2. The JAC also appreciates Pu Lalthanhawla, Hon’ble Chief Minister of Mizoram; Pu T.R.Zaliang, Hon’ble Chief Minister of Nagaland; Pu P.A.Sangma, Hon’ble MP and President of NE MP’ Forum and its Members, for their bold steps in supporting the present people’s movement in the hills of Manipur State against the three Bills passed by Manipur Assembly on 31st August, 2015 and our demand for complete separation of tribal areas from the purview of Manipur State control.

3. The Committee thanks our women-folks, student bodies, tribal chiefs, senior citizens, various tribal and non-tribal organisations in the hill areas of the state for their active participation in the movement. We also would like to similarly thank the various tribal bodies from different countries like USA, UK, Germany, Norway, Israel, South Korea, Malaysia, Singapore, Japan, Australia, Myanmar, Thailand, etc. who displayed their solidarity with our struggle; and different national tribal bodies such as Manipur Tribal Forum (Delhi), Zo Re-Unification Organisation (ZoRO) HQ, Aizawl and other civil bodies from the State; Tribal Groups from Bengaluru, Mumbai, Chennai, Guwahati, Shillong, Dimapur, Kolkata, etc; Tribal political parties like Naga People’s Front (NPF), Mizo National Front (MNF), Zoram National Party (ZNP), for their sympathy, support and for making the movement a national as well as international issue. We also deeply appreciate Hill People’s Alliance (HPA) members who tirelessly lobby for the cause of the tribals.

4. Mention may also be made of the decision taken by Manipur Cabinet on 23rd September, 2015 for initiating political dialogue with SoO groups under Kuki National Organisation (KNO) and United People’s Front (UPF). This is a positive step taken by the Government towards a durable political settlement in the State.

5. Finally, we sincerely acknowledge the unceasing support through prayers from fellow believers across the nations; and also the uninterrupted streams of myriad tribal organisations from within and outside the State who pay tribute to the departed nine Tribal Martyrs.

We, once again, appeal to all peace-loving citizens, well-wishers, fellow tribals from across the globe, the media fraternity, and other like-minded tribal organisations and sympathisers of the people’s movement to continue their support until the three unconstitutional and anti-tribal Bills are completely withdrawn and a separate political administration for the tribals in the State of Manipur is created within the Constitution of India.

We will continue to fight until our goal is achieved.

LONGLIVE TRIBAL UNITY...!
