CCpur, April 24 2015 : Barely a month ahead of the much anticipated ADC election, the Chief Minister along with the Deputy Chief Minister today inaugurated six buildings that will house the offices of the newly carved-out sub-divisions besides police outpost, banks and health centres.

Chief Minister Okram Ibobi Singh accompanied by Deputy Chief Minister Gaikhangam, and the six MLAs elected from the district began the inaugural spree early in the day at Samulamlan inaugurating the office complex of SDO/BDO Samulamlan at around 8.30 am.

He also delivered a brief public speech before heading back to Sangaikot and Saikot where similar complexes for Sangaikot SDO/BDO and Saikot SDO/BDO were launched.

The Chief Minister then inaugurated the complexes of TD blocks of Lanva and New Lamka and concluded with the inauguration of Tuibuong SDO/BDO complex.

Ibobi delivered a brief address in each of the inaugural function but Tuibuong, as the latter was clubbed with a public meeting at Kholmun playground.

However his addresses at Lanva and New Lamka were noteworthy as he announced the upgradation of the TD blocks to the level of SDO/BDO.

These announcements effectively took the new TD blocks to a higher level.

As six new SDO offices have been inaugurated today, the district will now have 11 (eleven) administrative sub-divisions as against the existing 5 sub-divisions of Tipaimukh, Thanlon, Henglep, Singngat and Churachandpur.

Most of the newly created sub-divisions have been carved out from Churachandpur sub-division.

Ibobi in his speech said the Congress Government in the State has decided to carve out several new sub-divisions after taking into account the need to streamline administration in the hill areas and to make the system more accessible to the public.

He also appealed to the public to co-operate with the initiative taken up by the Government so as to receive the maximum benefit out of it.
